Latin is sooooo hard to learn . . .

I was very taken with this post by Mulier Fortis, I thought I'd share it with you.

Quite often one hears the comment when discussing Mass settings, choice of music etc. 'Oh, but Latin is so difficult for our young people to learn.' 'They aren't used to it'. 'They don't learn it in school any more' and so on . . .

Well, here is a delightful clip of a very gifted young man, just four years old, singing the Salve Regina and obviously enjoying it too.

Papal Visit - Young People's Reunion . . .

Our Diocese is arranging a reunion for all of the young people in our diocese who attended one of the Papal Visit events last year, or who took part in World Youth Day this year.

I know some of our young people did go along to the Papal Visit event in London and Birmingham so I hope you might think about going along.

It will be an evening of

'faith, fun, food, friendship and music'

at St Francis Primary School Southgate Drive, Crawley RH10 6RP

Evangelium Conference 2010 . . .

Have you heard about the Evangelium Conference 2010?

It's a weekend for young Catholic adults (18 to 35) to be held at the Oratory School in Reading from 6th to 8th August.

It sounds like it will be a memorable weekend. Among the excellent speakers will be Fr Nicholas Schofield, Fr Thomas Crean OP, Fr Tim Finigan, Joanna Bogle and many more including the co-authors of Evangelium Fr Marcus Holden and Fr Andrew Pinsent.

In addition to the talks there will be prayer, daily Mass and Eucharistic Adoration. The weekend will give you the opportunity to mix with other young Catholic adults who share your faith with leisure opportunities for evening entertainment and sport.

Invocation 2010 . . .

I am delighted to be able to publicise this national vocations discernment weekend for young adults.

The weekend is aimed at young men and women aged between 16 and 35, who are looking to deepen their relationship with Christ, discern God's will for their lives and perhaps be open to the possibility of a vocation to the Priesthood or the Religious Life.

Invocation 2010 takes place in the grounds of St Mary's College, Oscott in the Diocese of Birmingham. The event begins at 4.30 pm on Friday 2nd July and ends on Sunday 5th July with Mass at 4 pm celebrated by Archbishop Vincent Nichols.

If anyone in our parish is interested, please have a word with me. The parish would be happy to help with expenses.
