Fire at Waitrose

What a dreadful tragedy for our local community. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this terrible fire last night. We give thanks to God that no lives were lost in the fire.

A video may be seen on the BBC website here.

Thank God no one was hurt!

I feel particularly for all the small traders in the High Street especially the one off shops. The Saturdays running up to Christmas must be one of their busiest days and no doubt one they were relying on this year as the credit crunch begins to bite. With the High Street shut off and the weather awful yesterday, it must have hit them hard.

A note regarding Waitrose - they donated a wonderful hamper the week before as a raffle prize for the Extravaganza for which we were extremely grateful - best wishes to the staff at Waitrose and may they be back in business soon!

I couldn't agree more, Flick. These things always have a 'knock on' effect and so many people suffer that we don't even begin to think about.
