It always makes me smile . . .

This is a bit of an 'in joke' for any possible clerical readers of this blog. I wonder how many times you've heard something like this in the last few days.

I certainly have had similar comments several times when I've been out and about in the parish recently. I wonder what people imagine we do for the rest of the year!

It still makes me smile . . .

Father, please take your flock's clumsy comments as they are intended; expressions of support and profound gratitude for all you do. We know you work extremely hard ALL year, but we KNOW Advent and Lent are extra busy. Of course they are; culminating in Christmas & Easter, the dual climax of the Catholic year.
We each see only SOME of what you do and all know that there is so much more that goes on, not to mention the daily sacrifice you make for us; the sacrifice of your lives. Perhaps we should just say what we mean..."Thank you!... For all you do and are, EVERY day, bus especially at this most precious time!"...

Thank you Amanda, Of course I appreciate the enormous support and 'profound gratitude' I receive all year round.

I was thinking more of the people whom I meet whilst out shopping or generally out and about.
